* Description - The Kyoto embryo collection is the largest collection of human embryos in the world, it therefore provides a unique research and educational resource for studying all aspects of early human development. This iBook now allows you to observe selected embryos from the first 8 weeks after fertilization and explore for yourself the changes that occur in normal human development during this key period. This atlas of the Kyoto embryos from Carnegie Stage 7 to 23 provides a brief description of each stage, surface views, interactive images, histology, movies and a glossary. | |||

Introduction
The current site provides an extensive online educational resource available to all with an internet connection. The development of mobile eReaders and iPad format now also allows the offline availability of educational materials. Until now I have delayed publishing content in an eBook format, but the recent availability of "iBook Textbooks" and the new "iBooks Author" software allows incorporation of many excellent educational tools (galleries, labels, animations and quizzes). I am not initially submitting to the new "Textbook" section as these initial releases are not in this structured format and textbooks option is not currently available to all countries.
The first releases will be of historic material to develop my own skills in the use of the software. These will be followed up by a series of releases supporting undergraduate education and focussing on specific embryology topics. I am still contemplating how best to present this material to K-12 student level. Consistent with education being free to all, I will be releasing along with collaborators, a series of embryology resources that will be available free for educational purposes through the iTunes bookstore. I hope you enjoy learning form these materials, a good paper textbook though will still never run out of battery!
