Cecal Volvulus

The cecum (caecum) refers to the initial portion of the large intestine (bowel) and is anatomically located in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen.

A volvulus refers to the abnormal twisting of the intestine. This can result not only in blocking the gastrointestinal tract but also impairing the flow of blood to the intestine.
